Telefónica and Terra Lycos have launched Mundo3D, a 3D virtual community developed by Silicon Artists, as an integral part of their new broadband services platform MundoADSL.
The community includes the following features:
- Personalized avatars
- Themed zones (movies, videogaming, computing, music…)
- Collectable interactive objects (e.g. music players, virtual CDs…)
- 3D versions of chess and draughts
- Dynamically-generated, reservable party rooms with automatic invitations
Mundo3D is also fully integrated with a series of platform-wide, application-independent services in the new platform.
- Videoconferencing between avatars
- Instant messaging
- Universal messaging (e-mail, voice mail…)
- Buddy list
- Multi-videoconferencing with up to four participants
Mundo3D has been developed by Silicon Artists using their proprietary Mundo platform, which allows the rapid development of 3D virtual communties, accesible via any Flash-enabled browser. During the coming months the community will be extended with new content and services.
