Silicon Artists was born from the fusion of technology and entertainment. Founder Simon Birrell had worked for ten years developing videogames for UK entertainment conglomerates Virgin and Palace and brought this experience to our first project: a pioneering Internet cartoon series for Telefónica in 1996.
Over the years, we have developed a portfolio of entertainment projects, both our own properties for licensing as well as work for hire.
We were first-movers in the Internet animation market, producing a 75-minute animated series for the Internet, even before the invention of Flash. We hired and retrained traditional animation experts to use our new in-house tools, and recruited writers and actors to work in this exciting new medium. This experience led to more ambitious animation series for Sony and Planet Hollywood.
We have created and licensed over one hundred online games to TV and Entertainment Companies (ONO, Antena3, Quiero TV, Playboy). Find out more about licensing our content.
Recently Silicon Artists has moved into more traditional media, producing two 30-minute films and developing its own feature projects.
In whatever medium we work, we have one overriding principle: optimize the experience for the end user.
